Russian attack on Ukraine: Japanese PM condemns
Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio has condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine and vowed to respond immediately, in a coordinated manner with the United States and other countries.
Prime Minister Kishida convened a meeting of the National Security Council on Thursday following reports that Russia had launched military operations in Ukraine.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa and Defense Minister Kishi Nobuo.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Kishida said he had been briefed on the latest developments in Ukraine.
He said that due to rising tensions, he had instructed the authorities to do whatever they could to ensure the safety of Japanese citizens in Ukraine.
